Four-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. BURGER JR. / ROCHESTER. N.Y.", circa 1880, semi-ovoid churn with flared collar and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with spotted center and shaded petals and leaves. Slip-trailed "4." above. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Tight spider lines on underside, not visible on interior. A 1 3/8" rim chip on reverse. Chips to interior where a lid would rest.
