Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "BURGER BRO's. &. CO. / ROCHESTER", New York State origin, circa 1870, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with shaded petals and leaves. Slip-trailed number 2 above. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Provenance: David Musser Collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with two short, faint surface lines in spout, a 1 1/2" circular discolored contact mark to right side of jug, and some flecks of old green paint to surface.
