Unusual Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, West Virginia or Ohio origin, third quarter 19th century, ovoid-bodied pitcher with heavy tooling to midsection and rim, decorated with a brushed design of three tulips emanating from the base. Graduated stripe decoration to left and right sides of pitcher. Heavy cobalt spot decoration to collar. Cobalt stripe decoration to handle. Some in-the-firing dryness and mottling to surface. A shallow 1 1/8" chip to side of rim. A few very minor rim nicks. H 9".
