Rare Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Springfield, MA Advertising, Stamped Twice "WEST TROY / N.Y. / POTTERY.", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, narrow mouth, and two open handles, featuring the slip-trailed advertising "Benj Spear / Springfield Mass". Impressed on front and reverse with West Troy Pottery maker's mark above a three-gallon capacity mark, both highlighted in cobalt. Exceptional form. A thin circular crack at base of one handle. Otherwise excellent, essentially as-made condition.
