One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1820, ovoid pitcher with flared collar and tooled rim, decorated in cobalt with three large flowering plants extending from the base. Cobalt swag decoration flanking the spout. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. An unusual design. Poorly-restored handle. Restored cracks to underside and base, extending several inches up body of pitcher. This restoration includes touch-up to the two left plants decorating the body. A small in-the-firing chip to front. An additional horizontal hairline to left side of pitcher. Black marker notation on underside.
