Extremely Rare A.E. Smith's Son's Pottery Co. Letter, Peck Slip, New York, and Norwalk, Connecticut origin, Dated November 19, 1883, header reads "ESTABLISHED 1780. / INCORPORATED 1874. / THE / A.E. Smith's Sons' Pottery Co., / 38 PECK SLIP, NEW YORK. / POTTERY, NORWALK, CONN. / H.H. SMITH, Pres't. / ASA SMITH, Treas.". Letter reads, "Gentleman / As our collector informs us that you made a claim on your bill of June 9th and as we have not recd any such claim from you will you please send us a memoranda of what is wrong so we may have the matter settled. it was the first we knew of anything being wrong [.] what our collector told us last Friday / Your Truly / H.H. Smith Prest.". While others may exist, this letter from the well-known A.E. Smith Pottery of Norwalk, Connecticut is the first of its kind we have seen. An important ephemera item related this historic New England operation. Very nice condition with typical fold marks, the number "52" written in blue in upper right, the stamped date "NOV 20 1883" in blue, and two small thumbtack holes along left edge. Dimensions (of letter): 9" x 5 3/4".
