Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "T.G. BOONE & SONS. / SANDS ST. BROOKLYN", New York origin, circa 1845, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a tulip with striped blossom extending from a leafy stem. Brushed "2." below decoration. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Two in-the-firing contact marks to front and one to reverse. A thin 5 1/4" crack from rim on reverse. Two small rim chips on reverse. Some minor, glazed-over chips to right handle. Light water glass staining to reverse.
