Two Four-Gallon Norton Family Stoneware Jugs, Bennington, VT origin, circa 1833-1847, both of skillfully-potted, highly-ovoid form, one with ochre tulip decoration, stamped "L. NORTON & SON", the other with finely-brushed cobalt tulip design, including unusual entwined stem and outlined leaves, stamped "JULIUS NORTON / BENNINGTON VT". L. Norton & Son jug with large spider crack on front, extending onto underside. Julius Norton jug with restoration to spout, some surface flaking to right of maker's mark, and a salt drip to front.
