One-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1870, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and ribbed lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with two large fan-shaped flowers extending from leafy stems. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and brushwork under each handle. Good color and unusual Remmey floral motif. A few rim chips. A small glazed-over chip to one handle. Other minor handle wear. A faint 4 1/2" line on underside, not visible on interior. A shallow 2 1/2" in-the-firing base chip.
