Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "A & W BOUGHNER / GREENSBORO, PA", circa 1860, cylindrical jar with incised banding to midsection, tooled shoulder, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a finely-brushed sweeping tulip, along with a stripe below the rim and a freehand number 2 at base. Impressed with the mark, "A & W BOUGHNER / GREENSBORO / PA", on reverse. Significant restoration to front, extending from rim through middle of floral design and through top of freehand "2". Additional restoration at base extending from right side partway onto reverse. A 1 1/2" surface line from rim on right side of jar.
