One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Foliate Decoration, attributed to John and James Miller, Strasburg, VA, circa 1835, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and arching tab handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a diagonal stem bearing graduated leaves. Appealing form. A 1" base chip, a 7/8" flake to top of handle, and a minor chip to edge of opposite handle. Jar does not fit flat.
