One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to John P. Schermerhorn, Richmond, VA, circa 1817-1837, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a brushed cobalt tulip. Brushed cobalt highlights along edges of handles. A 1 1/8" rim chip. A 9 3/4" Y-shaped crack on side of jar, continuing onto underside. Some surface wear to shoulder area.
