Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, New England origin, third quarter 19th century, a two-gallon jar with cobalt floral decoration, stamped "SOMERSET, / POTTERS WORKS", paired with a two-gallon jar with double-bird decoration, stamped "J. NORTON & CO. / BENNINGTON, VT.". Somerset Potters Works jar with various flaws, including several thin cracks to body and descending from rim, as well as chips and Albany slip loss to interior. Norton jar with a wide Y-shaped crack from rim, exfoliation to surface, a small chip to interior of rim, and minor wear to inner rim where a lid would rest.
