Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug, Stamped "P. CROSS / HARTFORD", Connecticut origin, early 19th century, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout and ribbed handle, decorated with cobalt highlights to the handle terminals and to the maker's mark of Peter Cross, impressed below the spout. Thin lines to jug, most or all of which appear to be in-the-firing, the largest ascending from base approximately 8" on reverse. A shallow, in-the-firing flake to top of spout. A shallow, glazed-over dent to foot.
