Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Decoration, Stamped "WARNE & LETTs 1806 / S. AMBOY . N. JERSY", South Amboy, NJ origin, 1806, ovoid jar with footed base, heavily-tooled shoulder, open loop handles, and coggled geometric designs around rim. Front decorated with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted design of two stylized drapes or leaves. Brushed swag decoration under each handle and cobalt highlights around handle terminals. One handle restored. A 4" crack from rim on front and a 5 1/4" inverted Y-shaped crack from rim on reverse. Some exfoliation to rim and shoulder. Additional tight surface lines. An in-the-firing chip to one handle. Two other in-the-firing chips to reverse. Chipping to base.
