Rare Small-Sized Cobalt-Banded Stoneware Jar with Combed Incising, probably Manhattan, NY or New Jersey origin, circa 1750-1790, finely-potted, ovoid jar with footed base and squared rim, the shoulder with recessed band highlighted with cobalt slip, above a dramatic combed wavy line design. An approximately 1 3/8" x 1" flake to underside at edge. Otherwise minor flaws, including a few shallow base chips, several tiny rim nicks, and a very faint, approximately 1" line from rim. Large area of jar with lightly-applied green paint. H 8".
