Contemporary Dave the Slave Commemorative Five-Gallon Double-Handled Stoneware Jug, Signed and Dated Michael Bayne, May 7, 2008, Number 19, highly-ovoid jug with tooled spout and applied handles, the surface covered in a light-colored alkaline glaze and decorated with a brown-and-white slip decoration of Dave turning a pot on the wheel. Reverse with white slip inscription "Dave was the finest Slave Potter so I am told / Little did he know the Clay he touched would turn to gold / May 7 2008 / Michael Bayne". Incised "No. 19" under one handle. Excellent as-made condition. H 16 1/2".
