Rare Two-Gallon Jersey City Heights, NJ Stoneware Advertising Crock with Cobalt Leaf Decoration, probably New York City origin, circa 1880, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed leaf below the elaborate impressed and cobalt-highlighted advertising "ESPECIALLY MADE FOR / H.C. LUDEWIG / 412 CENTRAL AVE / JERSEY CITY HEIGHTS". A 7" crack from rim on front and a 6 3/4" crack from rim on reverse. A 2" surface line on interior of rim on reverse, not visible on exterior. Staining to surface. One handle chip. One chip to interior of rim.
