One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX", Harrisburg, PA origin, circa 1865, ovoid pitcher with footed base, flared collar, and applied handle, the front decorated with a brushed cobalt tulip blossom with crossed stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. This particular pitcher form is unusual among marked Cowden & Wilcox products, as most examples are potted with a taller collar and lack the dramatic demarcation between the collar and pitcher's body. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
