Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Double-Bird Decoration, Stamped "S. HART / FULTON", New York State origin, circa 1860, squat-shaped, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded spout, and applied handle, decorated with a slip-trailed design of two crossed birds with spotted bodies and solid cobalt wings. Slip-trailed "4" underscored by a flourish to left of birds. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. A thin band of wear to body. Reverse with some small bits of adhered clay and small contact marks.
