Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration and 1840 Date, attributed to Smith & Day, Norwalk, CT, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated across the midsection with a stylized floral motif, at the shoulder with a script "2" flanked by drapes, and at the base with the large script date "1840". Jar is out-of-round with a small rim chip on reverse and a contact mark on front.
