Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Drape and Foliate Decoration, probably Smith & Day, Norwalk, CT, circa 1845, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and squared spout, decorated with a brushed cobalt scalloped drape design above a large leaf. Cobalt highlight to capacity mark. A 3 1/2" crack at base, continuing 1 1/4" onto underside. A spout chip. A short hairline from spout on reverse.
