Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "T.F. REPPERT SUCCESSOR TO / JAMES HAMILTON & CO. / MANUFACTURERS. / GREENSBORO. PA," circa 1880, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated a central stenciled lock or shield design, foliate and floral stenciling, a stenciled "2" with flourishes, and a freehand stripe at shoulder and base. Desirable "REPPERT / SUCCESSOR TO" stenciling. 2 1/2" loss to side of rim. Rim is slightly out-of-round. Long thin crack on underside, which forms a very tight Y at base on front.
