Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Running Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITES UTICA," New York State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded rim, decorated with a large "running" bird with fan-shaped tail atop a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Dark discoloration and some oversalting to jug. A small in-the-firing iron ping to spout and a small post-firing spout chip with 1/4" line descending from it.
