Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "WHITES UTICA," New York State origin, circa 1865, cylindrical jug featuring a slip-trailed design of a bird with turned head and long tail, perched on a stylized stump. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with two minor and typical contact marks to handle, which occurred in the firing.
