One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Leaf Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a brushed leaf with veining extending across the front. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Essentially as-made condition with only in-the-firing flaws. Two small glazed-over iron pings to left side of jug. Smooth 1 1/2" in-the-firing contact mark to right side of jug. 1" in-the-firing chip to top of handle. Some light fry to cobalt. Some light traces of old red paint to surface.
