Fine Stoneware Butter Crock with Freehand Cobalt Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, approximately one-half-gallon crock with semi-rounded rim, tooled shoulder, and semi-ovoid body, the front decorated with brushed cobalt vining between two horizontal stripes. Good form and decoration. A few shallow chips on interior of rim. A very shallow 5/8" base chip. A light salt drip and contact mark to side of bowl. H 4 1/2" ; Diameter 7".
