Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "NICHOLS & BOYNTON / BURLINGTON, VT," circa 1856-1859, ovoid jar with tooled midsection, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a fan-shaped flower extending from a leafy stem. Heavy cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A shallow 1 1/4" handle chip and minor chipping to opposite handle. A minor iron ping to reverse.
