Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER / ROCHESTER," New York State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with shaded blossom and petals. Slip-trailed "2." at shoulder. Brushed cobalt over maker's mark. Reverse of handle with small chip and tight Y-shaped line. Rim chips.
