Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Floral Decoration, Stamped "CORTLAND," Madison Woodruff and Romanzo Smith, Cortland, NY, circa 1867-1869, cylindrical crock with lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed floral design of two tulips extending from a looping stem. Impressed and cobalt-highlighted rosette at shoulder. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. 1 1/2" chip with U-shaped surface crack at base on reverse. Small rim chip on side of crock. Very rim nick on front. Minor chipping to bottom edge on underside.
