Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J NORTON & CO. / BENNINGTON VT.," circa 1850, squat-shaped, cylindrical jar with applied lug handles and flared rim, decorated with a large slip-trailed floral spray accented with dotted trails. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Chip to reverse edge of right handle. Base chip. Minor flake / iron ping to side. Two other very minor glazed-over iron pings at base. Chips to interior of rim. Small, shallow chips and wear to interior of rim, where a lid would rest.
