One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Stylized Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "L. NORTON & SON," Bennington, VT origin, circa 1833-1841, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with two conjoined cobalt ovals, possibly an early form of the Norton butterfly. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Some bubbling to cobalt. Some staining. A nick to spout.
