Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Folk Art Decoration of a Man, Inscribed "G H S," George Suttles, La Verna, TX, late 19th or early 20th century, squat-shaped jug with folky incised design of a long-nosed man with outstretched arms smoking a cigarette, beside the initials "G H S". Surface covered in a heavy Albany slip glaze. Unusual figural design and desirable Texas maker. Essentially as-made condition with some bubbling / runs to slip, primarily on handle. H 9".
