Rare Miniature Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Decoration, New York State or Ohio origin, second quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, the base with unusual chip-carved scalloping. Front and reverse decorated with a stylized, haphazardly-brushed floral design. Additional cobalt highights to handles. Impressed "E.L" on shoulder. Possibly initials "DA" incised on underside. Excellent size. Shallow rim chips. A contact mark to side of rim. A very short, glazed-over line from rim on front. H 3 1/2".
