Powhatan, Ohio Stoneware Advertising Canning Jar, Western PA origin, circa 1875, with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim with wax sealer interior, featuring the stenciled merchant advertising "Manufactured by / Green & Dorsey / Powhatan / Ohio" interspersed with various stenciled flourishes. 4 3/4" tall T-shaped crack on side of jar, continuing onto underside, where it forms a 4" spider crack on underside. A shallow chip and some roughness to base. A few nicks to shoulder molding on reverse. Shallow chipping to interior of rim and a few minor nicks to inner wax sealer rim. H 8 1/4".
