One-Gallon Pittsburgh, PA Stoneware Advertising Jug, Western PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated with two freehand stripes and the stenciled cobalt advertising "GETTY & CO. / WHOLESALE LIQUOR / DEALERS / 180 & 182 FIRST AVE. / PITTSBURGH. PA.". Cobalt brushed at upper handle terminal. Area of scratches to surface on left side of jug. Small glazed-over chip on side of spout. Smaller post-firing chip on reverse of spout.
