Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Tulip Decoration, Stamped "BURGER & LANG / ROCHESTER, N.Y.," circa 1870, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a finely slip-trailed design of a tulip plant with cross-hatched and accented petals as well as detailed shading to the leaves. Slip-trailed "3" above. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark. A well-executed example with outstanding color and crisp slip-trailing. Professional restoration to base, underside, and rim. A small handle chip.
