One-and-a-Half-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JULIUS NORTON / BENNINGTON VT," circa 1845, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a flowering stem bearing four blossoms. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Includes salt-glazed lid, possibly original to jar. Jar with 3" hairline on reverse, continuing 2 1/4" onto underside. Some minor wear on rim for lid. Faint hairline and small iron ping to lid.
