Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Water Cooler with Lid, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1870, squat-shaped, tapered cooler with circular bunghole and applied tab handles, decorated with a two-stemmed clover plant on the front and reverse, as well as heavy cobalt highlights to bunghole and handles. Includes a Baltimore stoneware lid with heavy cobalt leaf decoration, possibly original to the cooler. 7" crack from rim on reverse. Hairlines in underside of cooler. Three minor rim nicks. Small nick to one handle. Large glued crack in lid. Chips to underside of lid at edge. Losses to flange on underside of lid. H (of cooler, excluding lid) 9 3/8".
