Fine One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to E.B. Hyssong, Huntingdon County, PA, third quarter 19th century, well-potted pitcher with highly-ovoid body and heavily-tooled rim molding, decorated around the body with a brushed cobalt flowering vine design. Collar decorated with cobalt swags. Additional swags flaking the spout. Excellent form with strong decoration. Thin horizontal crack through handle. Handle still very stable. A chip to spout and an in-the-firing stone ping to right side of spout. Small chip to right side of rim. Some minor nicks to rim molding. Base chips, the largest measuring approximately 1 3/8". Tight 1 1/2", in-the-firing X-shaped surface line on reverse, not visible on interior.
