Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Double Bird Decoration, Stamped "S. HART / FULTON," New York State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of crossed bird with heavily-shaded wings and spotted bodies. Slip-trailed "6" with flourish to left of decoration. Cobalt stripes through maker's mark. Some fry to cobalt. A small bit of clay adhered to reverse. Minor in-the-making contact mark to one handle.
