Rare Ten-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Freehand Cobalt Decoration, Stenciled "R.T. WILLIAMS / NEW GENEVA / PA," circa 1885, cylindrical cooler with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, applied lug handles, and squared bunghole. Midsection with R.T. Williams maker's stenciling. Body decorated with freehand stripes, two stylized leaves or flowers, and a freehand "10" above bunghole. Unusual V-shaped freehand dashes flanking the bunghole at base. Incised "X" on underside. Includes old wooden stopper to bunghole. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example from a Mid-Atlantic antiques collection. Excellent condition with minor wear to bunghole.
