Rare Slip-Decorated Redware Plate, Inscribed "Marys Dish," Norwalk, CT origin, circa 1840, with coggled edge, the interior featuring the yellow slip inscription "Marys Dish" with small flourishes above and below. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example from a long-term Midwestern collection. Restoration to interior surface, which partially conceals a large Y-shaped line and covers some of the slip decoration, primarily visible on the "ary" in "Mary" and the top of the "D" in "Dish". Additional flakes to interior. Rim chips. Diameter 11 1/4".
