Unusual Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Tree Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN, OTTMAN, & CO. / FORT EDWARD, NY," circa 1870, cylindrical jug with sloped shoulder and squared spout, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a large tree extending from a heavily-detailed ground filled with shrubs and grasses. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small, glazed-over chip to side of spout and an iron ping at base on reverse.
