Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Decoration of a Paddletail Bird with Turned Head, Stamped "N.A. WHITE & SON / UTICA, N.Y.," circa 1885, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a paddletailed bird perched on a morning glory vine. Unusual turned-head stance to bird. Some grittiness to cobalt. Chipping to spout. Two in-the-making chips on reverse of handle. A few very minor base chips.
