One-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Stenciled Cobalt Decoration, Stamped “F.H. COWDEN/ HARRISBURG, PA,” circa 1880, short cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a stylized, stenciled foliate design resembling a snowflake. Brushed cobalt highlights to the handle terminals. A professionally-restored top-to-bottom crack on front and reverse. Additional significant restoration to bottom. A small rim chip on reverse.
