Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt design of a tulip plant, including extra accents to the blossoms and a leafy vine at center. Includes original salt-glazed lid, impressed "3". Both handles reglued. Scattered exfoliation. Two small chips and a few minor nicks on interior of rim. Heavy chipping to inner rim where a lid would rest. A few chips to lid.
