Rare Glazed Redware Pig Flask, American, possibly PA or Midwestern origin, second half 19th century, with wonderful hand-modeled face, including applied pointed ears, open mouth, and circular eyes and nostrils. Large applied tail above opening in rear. Pig's legs applied in a reclining stance under its body. Surface covered in a heavy lead glaze over an olive ground with orange spotting. Excellent form. As-made condition with two large in-the-firing flakes, measuring 1 1/4" and 1", to back of rear legs. Long in-the-firing chips / contact mark to bottom of front legs. L 8 1/4".
