Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Floral Decoration, Old Bridge, NJ, circa 1820, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, decorated with deeply-incised design and cobalt-highlighted design of a flower or seed pod hanging from a stem with heavily-veined leaves. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Very nice decoration. 12" vertical crack on reverse. Very tight 3" vertical line at base on reverse, extending 1" onto underside, most likely in-the-firing. A few very minor base nicks. Some traces of old green paint to surface at base. A small stone ping to front. A minor nick to side of handle.
