Fine and Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Large Cobalt Floral Decoration and Variation Maker's Mark, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER. / ROCHESTER, N.Y.," circa 1850, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of an orchid with heavily-detailed petals and spotted center. Impressed with a rare maker's mark variation in which the name "STETZENMEYER" has an inverted "M". Slip-trailed "3" below maker's mark. Strong decoration with excellent color. Some fry to cobalt. Otherwise excellent condition.
